Hydrosense ONE Multi Legionella Water Test

This Legionella testing solution detects Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1, the cause of over 90% of Legionnaires’ disease outbreaks and is ideal for guidelines dictating action for 1000 CFU/L and above.

A simple test to conduct, it can be carried out by anyone in any setting as minimal training is required. It provides accurate results in just 25 minutes.

The kit includes visual step by step instructions and includes a visual reference to indicate the level of infection via a Hazard Index scorecard.

Perfect for cooling towers, water storage units, decorative fountains, taps, showers, spas, swimming facilities, and more.

Sensitivity:

≥1,000 CFU/L plus 10,000 CFU/L verified Hazard Index rating

Detects:

Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1

Part Number:

100254

The test detects Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 by using our unique filter to trap any bacteria present, paired with Lateral Flow Immunochromatographic Assay (LFICA) technology (same technology used in Covid-19 and pregnancy tests). The test isolates the bacteria and distinctly identifies the presence of serogroup 1 (sg1) on a test line with a control line to confirm the test has worked effectively.

This information enables the user to identify the presence of Legionella pneumophila sg1 risk, supporting immediate remedial action. Results are delivered onsite meaning no long waits for lab culture reports.

This test can detect Legionella pneumophila sg1 levels of 1000 CFU/L (1 CFU/ml).

VALIDITY OF THE HYDROSENSE ONE MULTI TEST

HIGH SENSITIVITY AND SPECIFICITY:

The Hydrosense ONE Lateral Flow Test Kit successfully detects Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 with high sensitivity and specificity, maintaining a high detection level when combined with the filtration kit provided (1000 CFU/L for a 100 ml sample).

VERSATILE TEST CONDITIONS:

Displays robustness under varying conditions without compromising results.

NO CROSS-REACTIVITY:

Demonstrates no interference from other common waterborne bacteria or non-pneumophila species of Legionella.

TOLERANCE TO WATER CONDITIONS:

Performs reliably even in hard water and high alkalinity conditions.

HOW THE TEST WORKS

Hydrosense ONE test - negative

If there is only a red line at the C position, sg 1 has not been detected.

Hydrosense ONE test - positive

If red lines are present at both the 1 and C positions, sg 1 has been detected (≥1000 CFU/L).

WHICH SECTORS WOULD BENEFIT FROM HYDROSENSE ONE MULTI LEGIONELLA WATER TEST?

Any industry where humans interact with water poses a risk of Legionella pneumophila infection. Industries that would benefit from regular use of Hydrosense ONE Multi Water Test are:

HOSPITALS AND CARE HOMES:

Hospitals and care homes sector

Hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities, which typically have complex water systems and treat patients with compromised immune systems, can use Hydrosense ONE for early detection which can lead to fast remediation.

HOTELS, SPAS AND RECREATIONAL:

Hotels, spas and recreational sector

Hotels, resorts, and leisure facilities with aerosol creating water features like showers, pools, spas, and decorative fountains, are a risk for Legionella. Hotels are the number one setting for infection. If Legionella pneumophila is present, it could impact thousands of guests and have extremely excessive cost due to remedial work, closures, cancellations, litigation, and reputational damage.

COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE:

Commercial real estate sector

Owners and managers of commercial buildings with cooling towers or large water systems would find this technology valuable for monitoring and maintaining the safety of their water systems, prioritising public health, and assisting regulatory compliance.

SHIPPING AND CRUISE LINERS:

Shipping and cruise liner sector

Confined water systems with many cross-contamination opportunities and port-to-ship water transmission can be a serious Legionella risk, putting crew and thousands of passengers in danger of infection. The remote locations make it difficult to get water samples to a lab in good time.

OFFSHORE OPERATIONS:

Offshore sector

Rapid Legionella testing can be particularly useful in remote locations like oil rigs where transporting samples to a distant lab for analysis can be cumbersome, time-consuming, and potentially less accurate if the sample degrades over time.
